Tryptaca is an antidepressant drug. It is used to elevate the mood of patients with depression. Depression is an all-pervasive sense of sadness and gloom. It is believed that in some patients with depression, abnormal levels of neurotransmitters (chemicals that nerves use to communicate with each other) may relate to their depression. Amitriptyline elevates mood by raising the level of neurotransmitters in nerves of the brain. Amitriptyline was approved by the FDA in May 1983.
TRYPTACA (ELAVIL) INSTRUCTIONS
Tryptaca may be taken with or without food. The recommended adult dose is 40-150 mg daily in divided doses. The lowest effective dose should be used.
TRYPTACA (ELAVIL) STORAGE
Tryptaca should be stored at room temperature in a tight, light resistant container. Avoid storage at temperatures above 30°C (86°F). Keep Tryptaca out of the reach of children.

Tryptaca is used with caution in patients with seizures since it can increase the risk of seizures. Tryptaca is used with caution in patients with prostate enlargement because of the risk of increasing retention of urine due to the inability to urinate. Tryptaca can cause elevated pressure in the eyes of certain patients with glaucoma.
If Tryptaca is discontinued abruptly, dizziness, headache, nausea, and restlessness may occur. Withdrawal symptoms may occur when even a few doses are missed. Therefore, it is recommended that the dose of antidepressant be reduced gradually when therapy is discontinued.
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This medication appears in breast milk. If Tryptaca is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.
Tryptaca may intensify the effects of alcohol. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication.
If Tryptaca is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered.
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Tryptaca.
Older adults are especially liable to certain side effects of Tryptaca, including rapid heartbeat, constipation, dry mouth, blurred vision, sedation, and confusion, and are in greater danger of sustaining a fall.
